Just Say A Little Prayer

Dakota has been extremely ill since last week and I finally took her to urgent care last night where we learned that she has strep throat. This morning around 6am, Rian came in burning up and complaining of a sore throat. At her doctor's appointment this morning, upon learning that she would have a throat culture, she became hysterical. When the nurse walked in with the swab, Rian asked me in a timid voice if we could say a prayer. The nurse stood quietly as I whispered a short prayer in her ear asking Heavenly Father to help her to be strong. She instantly calmed herself and sat still while the nurse swabbed her throat. It's amazing to me the power that we have to teach our children and the willingness that they have to receive what is being taught. They don't question whether or not their Heavenly Father will hear their prayers, they just know He will. I am so proud of her for having that faith, she is truly an example to me.

PS Both girls are feeling better today, but now Jack has a fever. It's a never ending vicious cycle!

'Tis the Season

Not the best pictures of the Winter Concert. I'm thinking it's time for a new camera! Decorating the tree was fun, but don't be fooled by the master photography, Jack is not actually helping to trim the tree but rather trying his hardest to get all of the ornaments off before we pulled him away! He loves to plug in the lights every morning and now knows that the fun little toys on the tree are not for play!

Our kids are going to be famous!!!

I was trying to take a quick nap yesterday while Jack was asleep but was interrupted by a very excited Rian. She and Dakota had been playing in the backyard when they discovered something special (or so she thought). So she came running upstairs, took a deep breathe and said "Mom, I think me and Dakota are going to be famous!" I asked why and she replied "We were digging in the yard and we found dinosaur bones!" She then pointed out my window and told me I had to come look, it was "so very interesting!" I never did look and she later forgot about it altogether. Maybe I should go check it out. We might just have a future paleontologist in our midst!

Dad's Addiction

I thought you all should know that dad has recently become addicted to the most amazing show on television- Prison Break. He called us late last night like a drug addict desperately needing a fix. After watching a straight 6 hours of it and consequently finishing season one (which mom gave him for his birthday not one week ago!) he needed to know if season 2 was out on DVD. A great and excited sigh was heard over the phone when Dave laughingly replied "Yes". He was off to rent it and watch what I'm sure was another 4-5 hours. If you are not watching it as I suspect you aren't, do yourselves a favor and rent season one this weekend. Oh, and be sure to grab several liters of some sort of caffinated beverage to help you make it through the many sleepless nights as you will not be able to turn it off. Ladies, I need only say to you... Wentworth Miller, aka Michael Scoffield! I've said my peace. I'm out. Alisa

Granny Ogden

We just wanted to post a couple of pictures of granny. The kids were able to see her a couple of times and are fond of the memories they have of her. The most recent and most fun was November of 2005 when we got to spend the week with her in Florida during our trip to Disneyworld. She was very proud of her grandchildren, and although they didn't see her much, they still talk about missing her.

Kung Fu Fighting

Dinner Time!

This is what happens when Dave makes a rare appearance at our dinner table!

Rian's First Game of the Season

Rian did great in her first game this season! She scored 2 goals! She's not quite as into soccer as her sister, but I've learned that offering to bring the team's snack is enough to get her there. She would've had even more goals if she'd put as much effort into the game as she did into getting each sunflower seed out of its shell during her breaks! We are very proud of her still!

I'm Back On!

Well its been a while since I've "blogged". Our internet has been down and we've finally just got it up and going again. I know you've all missed us so much! I have been checking all of your blogs from mom's house as many of you have probably noticed as you've been getting posts from her that are actually me!

GO BEARS!!!

We just got home from Dave's first Phoenix College game vs. Chandler/Gilbert. I am thrilled to report a win! The game was tied at one until about 25 minutes into the second half and PC decided to drill 3 into the back of the net in a matter of about 2 minutes for a final score of 4-1. Go Bears! Congrats Dave!

Jack Turns One!

The kids that CREATE the CHAOS

Rian (5), Jack (10 months) & Dakota (7) in Bainbridge this Summer.

Let the BLOGGIN' begin!

Okay, so most of my siblings have been on my case about getting my blog up. And as I am usually quite on top of projects like this one, life has just been a little too hectic. So bad, in fact, that my poor little near perfect second grader has already had 2 separate trips to lunch detention because her mama was too disorganized to make sure she did all her homework! My apologies, Dakota. With that said; my enrichment is complete, everyone is back at work -meaning less hours for me, we have gotten into a decent schedule, and most importantly I have mastered the art of sneaking up the stairs without Jack spotting me, therefore allowing me some quality time with my computer! Hope you enjoy!
