Just Say A Little Prayer

Dakota has been extremely ill since last week and I finally took her to urgent care last night where we learned that she has strep throat. This morning around 6am, Rian came in burning up and complaining of a sore throat. At her doctor's appointment this morning, upon learning that she would have a throat culture, she became hysterical. When the nurse walked in with the swab, Rian asked me in a timid voice if we could say a prayer. The nurse stood quietly as I whispered a short prayer in her ear asking Heavenly Father to help her to be strong. She instantly calmed herself and sat still while the nurse swabbed her throat. It's amazing to me the power that we have to teach our children and the willingness that they have to receive what is being taught. They don't question whether or not their Heavenly Father will hear their prayers, they just know He will. I am so proud of her for having that faith, she is truly an example to me.

PS Both girls are feeling better today, but now Jack has a fever. It's a never ending vicious cycle!

'Tis the Season

Not the best pictures of the Winter Concert. I'm thinking it's time for a new camera! Decorating the tree was fun, but don't be fooled by the master photography, Jack is not actually helping to trim the tree but rather trying his hardest to get all of the ornaments off before we pulled him away! He loves to plug in the lights every morning and now knows that the fun little toys on the tree are not for play!

Our kids are going to be famous!!!

I was trying to take a quick nap yesterday while Jack was asleep but was interrupted by a very excited Rian. She and Dakota had been playing in the backyard when they discovered something special (or so she thought). So she came running upstairs, took a deep breathe and said "Mom, I think me and Dakota are going to be famous!" I asked why and she replied "We were digging in the yard and we found dinosaur bones!" She then pointed out my window and told me I had to come look, it was "so very interesting!" I never did look and she later forgot about it altogether. Maybe I should go check it out. We might just have a future paleontologist in our midst!
